It is a monologue of a lyrical hero experiencing cognitive dissonance from the radical dichotomy of two “I's” waging an irreconcilable struggle between themselves (or not a struggle?)
Musically, this is an example of a melodic death metal that combines features of Finnish and Swedish schools, performed in an uncharacteristic song form for the genre, close to its approach to Norwegian black metal.
